what is it? The Book Club from Down Under?

Alright, I guess I should start by saying, I'm a little obsessed. I read the half finished manuscript of Midnight Sun twice. What's that you say? "SOMEones has a lot of time on their hands". Well, it's no gluing penny's on a dashboard, but I still had the same feeling of accomplishment when I was done. And although after talking with St. Jenny about it, I do feel a little bad critiquing an unfinished novel. But since I have NOTHING bad to say about it, I will proceed. I loved it. I loved how I got to know the Cullen family better, I liked getting to feel how his family life was. I liked being able to hear what everyone was thinking. I liked getting to know her friends better through their thoughts, and I also liked that I found myself not liking many of her friends. There were a few things that I read in Twilight thinking, "Did I miss something? An inside joke?" And they were all explained in Midnight Sun. I also liked that I no longer wanted Bella to ever be with Jacob, only Edward. Who doesn't want a guy to feel about them like that? Don't you gize all agree? My favorite thing about the book was in one of the last chapters she wrote. He kept going on making comments in his head about the ugly sweater Bella was wearing, like it was helping him to not want to attack her. Like this one: "For a brief fraction of a second, I was overwhelmed by the idea of holding her in my arms at a dance-where she would surely wear something pretty and delicate rather than this hideous sweater." or "I was grateful to the unbecoming sweater that she wore". There was another one too, but I don't have THAT much time, geesh.
Really the only thing I didn't like was that it isn't finished. Hopefully she will finish it, or maybe I could help her out if she needs me to. I'll be waiting and rereading till I hear from her.

No more mistakes.

I could NOT agree with you more!!! I loved it. The entire Twilight series I simply could not understand the appeal Bella had for Edward. I didn't get it and I didn't buy it. I new get it... and I'll pay extra for it! My only mistake was that I recently loaned out my Twilight book so I couldn't go back and forth between the two and see what they were both thinking at any given time. I too loved his commenting on her unflattering sweater, seeing how he interacted with his family more, why Alice took to her so quickly, how they took care of "Lonnie" in Port Angeles, that Edward was responsible for getting Angela and that geek together, ETC ETC ETC! And I realized that Edward does have a BIT of a sense of humor. I needed to be reminded that this was the biggest thing to happen to him in his entire existence so obviously he was going to be a little intense about it. I loved it when he was trying to figure out how to tell Bella to not go into the woods alone and he was thinking "So, Bella, I was following your scent through the woods after I left your room
where I’d been watching you sleep… Yes, that would be quite the ice breaker."

Now I'm even more in awe of Stephenie Meyer. Was she thinking all these things as she wrote Twilight? Or did she go back and just make crap up so it would fit?? For example, when Alice said it was going to be sunny in Seattle on those days so he changed their plans. Know what I mean?? Craziness.

I hope someday I'll be able to read the rest where they rip James to shreds.

Sorry.... I guess my review is in your comments. I didn't mean to rattle on like that!

I TOTALLY agree...absolutely NOTHING wrong with it and I was TOTALLY right to stick with Edward when everyone else was jumping ship and falling for that Jacob kid. I'm sooooooo right! I must be a saint. Unfortunately that position is already filled...oh well maybe I can just be the Pope.

I love Edward, I do I really really do. He is funny, intense, Hot and a very good guy. I can't help but root for him and wish him happiness even if it's with Bella.

I soooooo hope that Stephenie finishes it...like really soon. though I have no problem reading what outs there over and over and over again I would love the finished book, I mean she didn't even get to there first kiss. It's almost unbearable not knowing.

Yeah, but this was just a rough draft. S.Meyer's planning on changing all that stuff. Lonnie's gonna end up on the cutting room floor, as if that whole part never happened. She has to keep her word count under 120K or her publisher's gonna flip.

^^^ seems to suddenly know a lot about what publisher's want.

hmmm very interesting St Jenny. I think landeelu maybe on to something....

Hot Pants said...

Do you really think Jenny didn't read it while she was counting all the words? Fess up fake St.!

Hot Pants said...

OK, I decided to take Jenny's subtle hints, and write a book. I just started, and since I only have to write under 120k words, I should have it done for you to all read next weekend. That is, as soon as I finish gluing all these quarters on my car. I think I will write about something different, like, a guy that turns into a llama, but the girl is also torn between her other "friend" that is allergic to llamas. She loves them both, but obviously can't be around them both, because the llama fur from the one is to hard for the other to have to be around. See, he has bad asthma. What do you think?

If you throw in some kind of ESP or mental telepathy I think you might be on to something HUGE!!

I mean, I'd read it. But I have a lot of time on my hands.

I hope "St. Jenny" didn't get carpal tunnel syndrome from all that scrolling through Midnight Sun.

Amy, what genre is your novel? Middle-grade (9-12 yr-olds)? Cuz I'm thinking it has potential to go to the Big Screen. I'm picturing an animated adaptation. Just throwing out a title suggestion: Emperor's New Groove. What do you think? And David Spade could be the voice of Kuzco (<--the llama).

Hmmmm that story sounds kind of familiar...are you sure it hasn't been done before????

Who is Kathy?? Why didn't anyone comment on her?? Welcome Kathy!

All those comments are unreadable. I still have every intention of reading those books, and I am going to get some things spoiled if I keep looking at your blogs...those comments looked like they were funny too...

Memzy said...

Amy, when you get finished writing that book make sure you post it for us so we can all read it and stuff. Cuz, we know you are so good already so how could we possibly say bad things?

::eyeing Jenny intentionally::

I am sorry, how rude of me. Everybody, this is Kathy. Kathy, this is everybody.

Kathy put some kind of internet predator block on me.

Elder Jack Anderson said...

Was it just me or did Midnight Sun answer questions for you that you didn't even know you had?

SMeyer is genius.

Memzy said...

I think that block is cuz you are a Saint Jenny.

Didn't read this part due to not finished with "the books"

but read your last post and I am so glad the kids are back in school also. I love having my routine back. Even though I hate homework.

Everytime I hear about that book, I am dying to read it! I have got to stop the penny glueing project and just sit down and do it.
